the educational system in my country(first draft

Economic poverty, poor health,  and poor levels of education are the most serious issues facing Egypt today, but the worst of all is the lack of proper education. If a child doesn’t have an access to an educational system that takes him through ajourney of self discovery and understanding of the world around him, then he won’t be able to grow up into a healthy, mature and active citizen in his society. Education, inmy opinion, is the process whereby we cultivate our intellect knowledge and wisdom, but the notion of education in Egypt is the memorization and ability to quote monstrous, comprehensive bulks of information and reiterate them in the exam paper. Education is literally ‘stuffing’ young brains with masses of data incomprehensible to those minds .

The only purpose of education is to teach a student how to live his life-by developing his mind and equipping him to deal with reality. The training he needs is theoretical, i.e., conceptual. He has to be taught to think, to understand, to integrate, to prove. He has to be taught the essentials of the knowledge discovered in the past-and he has to be equipped to acquire further knowledge by his own effort.education should fulfil some objectives: first, to improve the level of general knowledge and culture among students. The second objective is to build the personalities of students, allowing them to become more independent, more creative and more capable of thinking freely, of making decisions and of developing autonomously. Sadly, Egyptian university graduates are capable only of waiting for orders and executing them. No thinking, no arguing, no questioning; no objecting and not even dialoguing.Every human should want to be educated, because the world is full of technology which influences our world greatly. People who are not educated enough will surely be uniformed and left behind in today’s society. Technology is in business officers, schools, hospitals, doctor offices, stores, homes, and many other places. Today, the school systems start off with teaching the students how to use computers . The students are using this knowledge that they have learned from school and relating it to their parents.  Teachers are a gift to students and parents because they are teaching the students everything that there is to learn about education. Without teachers, students will not learn the knowledge they need to succeed in this world without a good education.

Egypt's  education needs an overhaul as high school teaching, based mostly on rote, does not give students practical skills, leaving them unprepared for college and later the workplace, according to the country's teachers and employers. Overcrowded classrooms, poor attendance and a lack of good libraries or office space for teachers are problems that run through the system from the earliest years to final classes. Facilities like computers and science labs are often rundown if they exist at all in state schools, they added..It seems to me that the problem with education in Egypt is not the curriculum, but the students. Most students in Egypt rely on private lessons and tutors to get their education instead of their school teachers. This results in minimal school attendance. The students merely go to take their exams. With less and less students showing up for classes, the teachers were bound to lose interest at some point. And they did. With students and teachers losing interest and becoming less enthusiastic about the classroom, administration and school boards began losing interest too. The product of all this is the current education problem in Egypt. The problem is not the curriculum. The real problem is the lack of interest and care that is exhibited from both the students and teachers alike.

There are some suggest solutions for improving the educational system in Egypt. Many education reform efforts focus on curriculum, the knowledge and skills that we want students to learn. These efforts tend to emphasize higher order thinking skills (such as problem solving) and connections to the world beyond the classroom. In contrast, the more traditional curriculum tends to focus on basic skills and academic subjects as they have historically been presented in schools. The development of standards is one of the most prominent features of the education reform landscape.Standards have been developed for many academic areas defining what students should know and be able to do at different grade levels.Traditional curricula tend to emphasize memorization and repetitious practice of basic skills. Many curriculum reform efforts promote a greater focus on skills such as logical analysis and problem solving
  • In the past, it was not considered essential that all students learn rigorous content; many jobs were available for students with minimal academic skill. In today's information age, jobs that used to require low levels of reading and mathematical skill now require the worker to use and understand 1,000 page technical manuals and computer-assisted diagnosis and treatment of job-related problems. Statistics shows that people with a great education are much more successful than those who do not receive a great education. Many people who graduate from high school and college are guaranteed to get a better job and higher position than those who have never finish their high school or college education.
